Baby

Vi and Tim
This is me and my baby, Violet Whitfield Minchin. She’s really funny. And blonde (poor thing got her dad’s colouring!). Born yesterday, Nov 24th after a very smooth birth. I’m pretty excited. xxx

Just had a phone call from the proud greatgrandfather Max (Ellison) with your latest and surely the most exciting news of all. I can see you are a proud dad–congratulation from one of your Perth fans!!! Where are the photos of Violet with her mum? Love to you all.

Posted by Evan on November 26, 2006

Well done Tim. Congtraducaltions. But now you have to remix your shows and wont be able to make fun of couples with children.

Just another artistic avenue to explore!

Awwww, so, so incredibly cute! Congratulations for you and Sarah. And of course congratulations to you, Vi! You have an awesome father. And I’m sure she’d make good friends with my girl. She had a lot of fun listening to you when I was five months pregnant, after all.
Oh, well, guess that peer pressure paid off, didn’t it? Now you have your own morning picture of another… miracle!

I’ve tried to post this comment like a hundred times now. I’m getting tired, it’s 2 am in Salamanca. I just hope I don’t wake up tomorrow to find one hundred nativity poems littering your website…

Roses are red
Violets are blue
Your daddy’s funny
And so are you.

Roses are red
Violets are blue
Your daddy looks stoned
Good luck to you!

Roses are red
Violets are blue
You are a beauty
What can you do?

Roses are red
Violets are blue
Get well soon, Sarah
Doo doobe doo

Besitos,
M.

Maybe she will grow up to be a super hero, then she can be called ‘Ultra-Violet’… ok, i’m sorry, that was a bad joke.
Catch ya round, oh and M… I like your poem!

Just think, when you take her shopping you can put her in one of those canvas bag things.

She looks lovely. Violet is a lovely old-fashioned name (it was my nana’s name).

Glad to see you and your missus are sensible folk in that regard.

Congratulations. It’s really what life’s all about.

Posted by Rowan on November 30, 2006

COngratulations, though it’s been said a million times over already. Hope it’s the beginning of a beautiful and happy life with the three of you. ^^
Raise her well, Tim (though I don’t doubt you will anyway).

Posted by Louiebugooey on December 1, 2006

As many times as it has been said before, congrats! She is so adorable.
With any luck she’ll have her dad’s humour, too.

Posted by Renee on December 1, 2006

Congratulations to you and Sarah.

The world (and I’m sure Violet) thanks you for not burdening her with a stupid or misspelled name.

And the estrogen-fuelled call of “N’awwww” rings throughout the globe. She’s very cute.

Posted by Jasmine on December 2, 2006

Congrats and Violet looks so adorable. You’re going to make a wonderful father and your wife will make a darling mother. All the best for you and your families futures of smelly nappies lol.

Excuse me if I engage in a little cheap plugging of me (sounds sort of rude).

Mr.Minchin was kind enough to answer some questions from me, which will appear in a publication next year. However, just for you lucky Tim fans, you can read it now on my website.

Tim seems like a very nice young man, although I’m not sure about the mascara.

If the link below isn’t active, just click on my name.

Thanks.

Posted by EmO_eChIdNa on December 17, 2006

aww come on! the mascara is the bomb! if only more guys(apart from the emos who are incedently the hottest!) wore more mascara!

Posted by EmO_eChIdNa on December 17, 2006

move back to aust! raise vi in australia!!! the best country in the world so that she gets our comedy not the dodgy brittish stuf!! lol asutralias gonna take home the ashes!

Posted by Janey on December 21, 2006

I do congratulate you, your family and friends for having a new member but I must say; maybe it’s because this post is nearly a month old maybe it’s because the protective ‘must cuddle now’ hormone has started to wear off after being just over a year since my own sons birth (his birthday is 2 days before your daughters) or maybe it’s because I am a mother and thus drawn to men who would/do make good daddies but all i can really think when looking at that photo is “Dammit, you’re sizzling.”

*bad llama*

Congratulations Tim, I hope to catch your show when it comes to Durham - I’m trying to rouse a big crowd from the University to come with me!

Don’t feed her any donuts - you’ll regret it when she’s in her teens (you’re probably quite bored of that joke).

Posted by Alix on January 25, 2007

Well just new to this commenting invention here, so here is a late congratulation!! Shes the sweetest thing!! She really is lucky to have a dad like you, how long you gonna wait till you show her all your work? Must be wierd watching your parents on the tele or in shows. Well anyways, well done Tim!!
xxxxxx

Posted by Johna on February 1, 2007

very nice! though it does look like you’ve been trying to breastfeed her yourself!
I do hope this doesnt mean you won’t be doing the fringe this year, your show is the highlight of the festival for our company, ‘the village idiots’. our dirctors baby will be one during our run, you should come and swap baby stories!
many congratulations Mr. Minchin

How much for the baby?

Posted by Sarah (not your wife) on March 13, 2007

I’ve commented on this picture before on my space, but it’s just such a beautiful relaxed shot, it’s quite moving actually! She’s gonna grow up being so proud that you’re her dad, and I can imagine you’ll an amazing dad who’ll want to give her the world :)

It’d be cool for you to post new photos of your family occasionally, I bet she’s growing up fast!

Posted by Jaxx on November 10, 2007

This is one of those incredibly late congratulations you get from those friends you never see, who see you and forgot that you had a kid and then some one says you do so they congratulate you halfway through a conversation apologising only slightly and saying somehting about a trip overseas as well as food poisoning to make it seem as thought they knew all along.
Yeah.
One of those late congratulations.
Beautiful name too. She looks adorable.

(its her bithday soon, i hate birthdays, it shall now be….THE FIRST ANNUAL CELEBRATION OF THE CERTAIN DATE OF HER INTRODUCTION INTO THIS OXYGEN AND AL GORE FILLED WORLD, MAY GOD BE WITH HER)

she has an absolutely beautiful back of her head, really spectacular!

also, i would love to know why various people above have taken to referring to little violet as ‘it’ instead of ‘her’ or ‘the luckiest kid on this green earth that tim lives in’

infact me and my only-friend-left-who-will-now-still-listen-to-me-talk-about-you-for-hours-on-end (gasp…breathing is good) were anting about how cool it must be to have you as a dad, and HER mind isn’t even in a state of full conciousness yet (can’t wait for that)! and the envy that streams from us daily as we just have normal dads.

violet is a lucky little special girl, and you are going to be a one-of-a-kind dad!

x

Why are you using your child as an accessory? Aren’t there bylaws even in the UK? This is obvious cruelty and someone should notify the authorities. On a more genuine note - what a lovely moment. Dad looks like he hasn’t slept in months, perhaps he was holding his breath in anticipation? God (meaning whatever force that brings the good things) bless you, your wife and Violet. lovely all. Please think about touring Ca again, and giving us more notice. I only just found out about your proformance in LA.
