and the wonderful Shell.

30 years in the making… my new album, Time Machine, is out now! All 11 songs were written in my 20s, now reimagined and finally properly studio-recorded for the first time. Some have been played on stages all over the world, and some have barely ever been heard; some are pretty silly and some are very chill; but all are tunes that I think have stood the test of time… ish. I hope you get a kick out of it.

You can listen here.

Four singles have been released already: ‘Ruby’, ‘The Song of The Masochist’, ‘I Wouldn’t Like You’ and ‘You Grew On Me‘.

I wanted to put out this version of Not Perfect on the day the album drops…. But I didn’t know what to do about a music video. I knew I didn’t want to make it grand, because it’s such a personal song… and one that I know means a lot to a lot of people. Also, this version is very chill – a kind of campfire arrangement – and I didn’t want to make it overblown. So a few weeks ago, in Leeds, I went and bought a selfie-stick, and took a walk around the town – an AirPod in one ear, looking like a weirdo, singing along to my own 21 year old song. I taped about 4 versions, then went home and cut it together on iMovie. I intended to just use it as a proof of concept and get more / different / better footage… but my tour overwhelmed me, and eventually I thought, actually, fuck it. It’s kinda perfect. I mean, not perfect, but mine. Love to the gorgeous smiley people of Leeds who waved and laughed and gave me shit and got excited.

Absolutely love the album, please do make a volume 2 (or 3, 4 however many songs there are). They might not be chart toppers (though this one’s doing mighty fine), but they’ll make a few fans very happy. Fancy that and Happy boy are truly magical (all of Sit is) and more people need to be educated on the benefits of coca cola :). I hope anyone reading this has a nice day.

I absolutely love that you decided to release Not Perfect, and to hear it played on the radio was amazing. It’s so beautiful and everyone should hear it. ♥️

I’ve been surprised by my reaction to Ruby. I first heard it when I saw you live in June, and then again when I saw you earlier this month. I listened to it a few times in between as well, and I understood what it’s about. I think I’m a bit dead inside because it usually takes a lot for me to cry, unfortunately, but I was a bit surprised that it didn’t upset me during those listens. But apparently my brain decided that the album release date was time for it to actually process the message of Ruby, and I sobbed while listening to it. It’s so powerful, and I feel like it’s a tool for healing. I hope to be able to cry along to it more. Thank you so much. ♥️

I just want to say that you have been one of my favorite musicians since I first discovered you during quarantine, and this album is fantastic. I pray you never stop making your art.

I’ve been a fan of Tim’s for years & started getting notices of Tim’s new songs as soon as they became available. While I get the album for free on Amazon I’m going to buy the album anyway because I find Tim to be such an incredible and underrated talent and feel he should be paid for every song I listen to. I only wish I could find the videos of all the long ago comedy shows I watch on YouTube, I’d buy them all. I also loved Tom in Jesus Christ Superstar and hope to see him in more musical theatre.
