Australian Tour Details

by Tim 6th Mar 2007 | 42 comments

Hi guys.

This one for the Aussies. I’ve finally uploaded the details for my Australian tour. You can find out everything by clicking on Upcoming Gigs on the right of the page… or you can use the calender thingy to look up a particular date. Cool huh?

I also just want to make sure the Melbournites know that the show I’m doing at the Comedy festival will be all old material. I’m having a non-writing year due to migration and baby and touring business. I also realized that a lot of people in Melbourne have never seen me, especially the Dark Side material from 05, which I haven’t performed since back when I was a total nobody, rather than the vague shadow of a maybe somebody.

Perth and Wollongong are also going to be a “highlights” show.

Sydney is getting “So Rock”, which is the show I did in Melbourne and Edinburgh last year… even though in Melbourne, I hadn’t given it a title yet.

Adelaide is getting something called “So Rock”, but I might chuck some “Dark Side” stuff in it, because pretty much nobody in Adelaide has seen my stuff. (Unless you were part of the elite group who ventured into the foyer of the Festival Centre during the 2005 Cabaret Festival.)

As for Brisbane… my deep apologies for anyone who was resisting suicide only to see my show this year. I’m not able to get to Brizzy, mostly because the Powerhouse – my venue of choice – is closed during the months I’m in Oz. And other venues made nasty offers. And then we ran out of time. However… I will be back. Promise. Sorry.

Oh Tim, you have so disapointed the Temple family. We have just moved to Brisbane, because of work, and are feeling slightly homesick and seeing you would have been a welcome tonic. So, in true Minchin style we will just have to have another glass of wine in the sun to aleviate our sadness!! Seriously though, good luck with your tour.

Hey Tim, this guy handed me a DVD one day, (Tim Minchin-So Live). The illegible text and blurry image on the cover, in 3 amazing 1970s dot-matrix colours of black, white and red, made me suspect that this was an illegal copy.

Needless to say, i was … well, not that suprised really. Anyway, a wave of guilt washes over me for I so enjoyed the DVD and have borrowed it on several occasions. I find myself singing about canvas bags, in the shower, and giving it a really good go … until i get to that really high bit at the end. I’ve also been considering an unmistakable, unbreakable, inflatable. Very good listeners, apparently.

Break a leg. Try to see you in Perth ;)

Hey Tim,

Been to two of your shows in Sydney so far and loved them!!

I’ll be at your Sydney show on the 24th of March with my friend, celebrating the countdown (2 days to go) till i get married!! yay!

Give us a shout out =)

Emily! on 14th of October 2010

Hi Tim! You are so talented! My favourite song of yours is the song for Phil Daoust!! I want to come to your concert on the 26th Feb! It’d just about complete my life if i could meet you! And on my 18th it’d be so special! x

Keith Parker on 9th of June 2009

For Heaven’s sake get a better ticket agency than the one you have.
Minutes after we got the chance to book – presale!!!- we had ten attempts through Ticketmaster to get any tickets worth having and they were all completely useless. We know that Ticketmaster specialises in making at hard as possible to get good seats but this is ridiculous. Suggest a phone number and a human being would help as any chance of getting a special seat is imposssible!!

Just saw you play “Inflatable You” on Graham Norton’s Christmas show. Giggled so hard I choked and blew some of Earl Grey I was drinking out my nose, so high praise indeed. Nice flourish with the feet, as well; I think that might be a Libra thing – not feet, but details. I did read a funny horoscope once that started out normally enough, but ended by saying we were sex addicts and would probably die of venereal disease. Not something one often sees in the morning paper. Anyway, terrific performance.

Me on 27th of March 2008

Hey Tim – Update your page – “Me” got really excited coz the info detailed under “Australian Tour Details” is states you will be touring Oz for the Osstaylian Comedy Festival, yet your calendar states you touring that overpretentious apple state!!
Darn it!!

hey Tim, i have been watching you heaps and as a nineteen year old piano player i am inspired by you… i have been learning the piano for fourteen years and have taught myself to sing, as a child i always thought that Elton john and billy joel were the greatest, but i will tell you what… you are defiantly up there with them. are you coming to Bendigo VIC anytime soon if so i will have to get tickets. How long have you been playing? Do you write the lyrics or accompaniment first… i guessed the lyrics. I saw an interveiw on TV a while ago and you said, ”I don’t want to be known as the piano guy who writes funny songs”… i tell you what i have a lot of respect for the work you do, and the many hours you must put into each song, and trying not to laugh when you perform them.Great work, From Adam

I was most upset that you were not coming to brisbane.

So I caught a plane to Sydney to see you on Saturday Night at the opera house! I only had a standing ticket up the back, but it was very funy and definatly well worth the $20 ticket!!!

Long story short you owe me a plane fare.

:D

Ryan on 4th of May 2007

M. on 7th of March 2007

Alright, Sarah is healthy. It’s me who’s suffering form clinomorphism. You see, I interpret in two days at a conference on psychology and I’m doing my homework.

Basically, my words were “clinomorphically used as a metaphor or simile for someone’s behaviour, where the individual being described clinomorphically is not in fact believed by the utterer to be a sufferer of the condition in question”.

In any case, I got it wrong. I meant dissociative personality disorder. You see how much I’ve learned in a few hours? Also, that I am seeking Tim’s attention and envy Sarah too much AND I am bored to death studying psychological bullshit. Thus, I invade your blog and litter it with comments.

Besitos,
M.

M. on 7th of March 2007

She IS going crazy, then. Now she is two people and suffers from bipolar personality disorder. You better get there fast, Tim, or Blake will arrive before you.
The fan club is for the part of you that is a Mum.
Besitos,
M.

Sarah on 7th of March 2007

The tickets were mostly not for me… I got freebies to the wollongong show… can’t expect more than that!!… (If anyone goes nagging Timmy for freebies now, I apologise to you tim… and I say ‘shame on you’ to them)… Although, I think that M. doesn’t understand that I am #1 fan-Sarah not wife-Sarah… maybe we’ve jsut become one person.

A fan club for me?? because I deserve it more?? … YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS….. SSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS

M. on 7th of March 2007

Tim, I can’t believe you make Sarah BUY the tickets.

You do all sorts of strange things to her too, like getting her pregnant. You keep her excited for 150 days and make her babysit on top of that.

Aren’t you ashamed of yourself?

I’m going to start Sarah’s fan club. She deserves it more than you.

Besitos,
M.

Cat on 7th of March 2007

YAY I got 5 tix for your show on the 13th I hope to convert my friends to Timism… I hope Sarah got the remaining three tickets on my table because it is a good table and and our numbers will fit perfectly.

hehe student discount… noice XD

Love Ya
Cat

P.S. we are going to buy sooooo many canvas bags simply because you are on them :P

Nicola on 7th of March 2007

Damn your eyes!
All my friends I’ve introduced your brilliance to will get to see you three days before I do. I fly to Melbourne two days before you come to Perth, then I see you at the festival on the 17th (front, centre, waving flags.)
I realise that I am throwing a wee tantrum at the prospect of seeing you once in four days instead of twice in four days, when many less fortunate than me don’t get to see you at all. But Tim you know you are my sunshine. My only sunshine. You make me happy. Etc.

Curtain on floor on 7th of March 2007

I’m seeing you in Perth! And i get student discount. Yays!

That alone has completely won me over XD

Louie on 7th of March 2007

Ah! I can’t wait!!

Blake on 7th of March 2007

i believe sarah subdued her comment quite alot…. excited is an understatement… she is going mildly crazy. but so am i… the antici- pation is getting hard to bear. i get to meet the minchin. perhaps you can give my some tips on how to make sarah go crazy in different ways.

be seeing you soon (10 days, as sarah says)

Marie on 7th of March 2007

I’ll be there with Jane and Ben and the rest of the Perth family, provided I can teach Leila to go to sleep without me by her side. That’s my goal!

Marnie-Moo on 7th of March 2007

Trust Sarah to leave a comment.

Betty on 7th of March 2007

Ah, Noooooooooo! I thought you were coming to Perth in May. Only here for one night, and I won’t even be in our home state. And it’s the first time in 20 years I’ve ever gone anywhere else.
Ah well, my girls and I will just have to wait until next time…and /or new recorded output.
Cheers, Tim. All the best with everything.
We wish you well.
Love, Betty
(red haired Mum in the Perth “hard-core” comedy fan trio……)

Sarah on 6th of March 2007

Yay for Wollongong being a “highlights” show. I was hoping to get a highlights show in wollongong but the posters are all advertising “So Rock”…. but I don’t think any wollongongians other than myself and my cohort will know the difference… well… until they buy the cd of course.

I’ve bought tickets for sydney last night, the 1st, 5th, 11th and 13th… Can’t wait to meet some other Minchin cronies at those gigs.

Other than that, exciting news! Only 10 days til I see you my dear! Thank fuck for that! Every day I get more and more excited. I’m sure you understand. I know that you’ve been counting down since 150 days in anticipation, just like me.

Love always,
Sarah

Rajita on 6th of March 2007

Whehey! I’m seeing you in Sydney 4th of May! Look for me on the table directly in front (the little brown girl sitting with her mother >_>). Hope you’re selling some very exclusive merchandise that can only be sold at concerts :D

Australian Caroline on 6th of March 2007

Already bought ticket for Melbourne on 20th April and can’t wait to see you!

Thinking of going to more than one show

;)

Australian Caroline

MK on 6th of March 2007

Yay! A show that I can go to, and a ticket price I can afford as a student.

M. on 6th of March 2007

Doesn’t rhyme, anyway…

M. on 6th of March 2007

I know this is not like me at all, but I for once to be the first SFF to publish a comment. My two seconds of Minchin fame.

When are you going to learn Spanish and tour the rest of Europe? Translating the songs, no problem ;-) but I’m afraid it wouldn’t work because of the accent…

“Houlah, beeeheinveneedous a mee show, estoy contentou de que haiais pouddou vehneeer…”

Bs,
M.
