The spectacular Jesus Christ Superstar, with Tim playing his, award winning, dream role of Judas Iscariot, is on Channel 5 on Monday 30th December, 2013, at 11:35pm.

The show was filmed over two nights at Birmingham’s NIA, for a delighted and emotional crowd, when it first toured UK arenas in 2012. The fabulous cast also includes Melanie C as Mary Magdalene, Alexander Hanson in the role of Pontius Pilate, Chris Moyles as King Herod and winner of the ITV prime-time show Superstar Ben Forster in the title role of Jesus.

So if you want to see Tim brooding, rocking and [spoiler alert] dying in dreadlocks and tatts, now’s your chance. If the late time slot doesn’t suit you then fear not, it should appear on Demand 5 shortly after it airs.

UPDATE 30/12/2013: Our apologies – Channel 5 inform us that they will not be putting this up on Demand 5. However, if you can’t catch or record the programme, the DVD and Blu-ray are available in UK shops and online from various places including the JCS website and Amazon. (The DVD and Blu-ray are also available in Australia and the US.)

Here are a few (spoilery) clips to whet your appetite:

Aww, it seems like my comment has gone awry. It probably was a bit long winded (& perhaps OTT & odd). Maybe a spam bot thought it was written by a “Robot” (my English teacher did tell me that I had an “overconvoluted, torturous and discombobulating” style). :-( My apologies. I stand by (or sit in my case) my previous comments: your portrayal of Judas is authentic, passionate and incredible.

Wow Tim! What can I say?
All I can say is “Wow!” I’m absolutely in awe of your performance as Judas. I can feel the passion you have for this role. I say have because I’m sure that it still resides in you. Raw and encapsulating emotion like that can’t fade. You really were absolutely believable as Judas. To the point where I truly pretty much forgot that it was you. You were Judas. Amazing acting and outpouring of the passion, anger and upset that the character felt.

This has resulted in my being compelled to write on this comments thread – something that I don’t usually do. The reason being that I’m sure that you’re inundated by mail (snail – through your management(s) and so forth). I have been (am) a long time follower of your work in it’s many guises and “flavours”. I always feel that you always give 100% and have yet to find fault with anything (from the dock to live one man shows, cabaret or the musicals you’ve created). I listen to every podcast you guest on..etc etc. Would love to make a live show but being paralysed from the chest down & dislocating almost all joints daily sucks! (I’m ok though despite the ‘whine, whine, whine’ melodramatic disclosure, ha! ) & being a mother in the midst of that backdrop often makes having any sort of social live challenging.
Sorry, I’m waffling now. Just felt so compelled me to drivel on and on and likely bore you to tears in the process due to watching the arena JC show on DVD. I so wish that I had been able to watch this in the flesh.
Tim, whilst I’m breaking my self imposed “never-post-comments-on-websites”* I just wanted to say that I’ve learned & got so much about/from your music from listening to you talk about Matilda and especially GHD. Your explanation of the 12 hour clock & the 12 pitches in the chromatic scale & the way the songs are all so linked was breathtaking. I have both “original cast” recordings. Those Facebook lives and podcasts where you share your perspective & your cabaret shows on DVD literally keep me from bowing out of life when my physical neurological pain gets too much and the psychological pain of my past abuse from a neighbour when I was a child combine in the wee hours (The Pell track was close to home and not in a geographical context). Now I’ll leave this undoubtedly long, torturous diatribe here and hope that you get chance to one day peruse it – hopefully, if you do you’ll be gracious enough to not label me a complete eejit! Thank you.(*mainly due to the paranoia of embarrassing myself & being viewed as a pathetic annoyance. — affirmation is not attained in this way but or is it obliterated! Pathetic but true in my case!)

What a fabulous production! Especially your performance. Tim you were brilliant – I am also a huge fan of the Ted Neilly/Carl Anderson performances (from the Norman Jewison production) but you were/are exceptionally good. Thank you. Have bought the DVD. Loved it, loved it, loved it and am so disappointed I missed seeing the live performance.

It’s just magical power of art in it. It really convinces you because it is clever and beautiful and greatly performed. He was just a man. They said he was God, he did not say that. He wasn’t, no matter they keep telling it. The greatest fairytale in the World, neither more nor less. Thank you, good old Tim, for your amazing work.

Tim Thanks for Being.

Judas! Words cannot convey how amazing your portrayal was. Die hard Ted Neilly, Carl Anderson et al fan but, without a doubt, you are definitely up there with them.

I haved loved your work from Edinburgh to L.A.– this was a supremely good production, much owing to your performance. I just hoped that they would ease off on the unnecessary production gimmicks.
