Tim: “Of all the tunes on this record that have been reinvented, this one has had the most successful vibe update. I always thought this was a keeper, but now with Evan’s loping groove, and the pure undeniable jank of Jak’s guitar in the chorus… I love it.”

Recorded & Performed by:
Tim Minchin – Piano and Vocals
Jak Housden – Guitars
Evan Mannell – Drums/Percussion
James Haselwood – Bass

I Wouldn’t Like You  Lyrics

Don’t ask me to stop making you coffee in the morning
Everybody has their forte
And don’t ask me to change my socks while dancing in your bedroom
Everyone needs fifteen minutes of fame

And I’d never dream of asking you to discontinue use of my
Therapeutic pillow no no

I’d never dream of asking you to dress in any garment but
The overalls that you love and know

I wouldn’t like you if you weren’t like you
I wouldn’t like you if you weren’t like you

Don’t ask me to stop calling you any time I want to
Everyone has their addiction

And don’t ask me to stop writing you stupid little love songs
It’s just a part of my affliction

And I’d never dream of helping you to analyse and criticise the
Imperfections of your body

I’d never dream of asking you to change one thing about yourself for me
Not for anybody

I wouldn’t like you if you weren’t like you
I wouldn’t like you if you weren’t like you
I wouldn’t like you if you weren’t like
You if you weren’t
Like you if you weren’t like you

There are a limited number of signed copies available if you get a wiggle on.

The Song of The Masochist‘ is out today. It’s the second single from Tim’s upcoming new album Tim Minchin Time Machine, which will be out July 25th 2025.

You can listen to/download ‘The Song of The Masochisthere. (Lyrics below)

Tim: “Masochist is a jam track written in my early 20s, and might be unique in that it’s the only one from that era that I’ve never fallen out of love with. Sitting as it does in that place between satire and serious, it has never made it into one of my major tours… until this year. I’m stoked with this studio version, which I had taught to the boys the day before, and recorded bass, drums and guitar as live. I reckon you can feel that chaotic immediacy, yet it’s rooted in Mannell and Haselwood’s bang-in-the-pocket groove. I fkn love that groove.”

“SONGS THE WORLD WILL NEVER HEAR”
2025 Australian TOUR
Celebrating 20 years of FKN Hardcore Rock N Roll Nerding

Audiences can expect an evening packed with unforgettable songs and stories, as Tim looks back on how a Perth cabaret pianist ended up building one of the most eclectic and extraordinary careers in entertainment. Delivered with his signature blend of razor-sharp wit, musical virtuosity, and disarming honesty, the set list will see Tim and his band draw from three decades of unique songwriting.

Tim: “20 years ago, Dark Side took me from tiny cabaret rooms to the West End of London. In the years since then, I’ve pushed the boat out in as many directions as possible … and I’ve only been able to do so because of my fans. They’ve never flinched as I’ve turned corners and reinvented myself, always engaging open-heartedly with whatever I have to offer. I’m the luckiest artist on the planet and I can’t wait to be back touring my home country with a big joyous show, spanning my whole bloody mad career.”

Today Tim released his poignant new single ‘Ruby‘, offering a glimpse into his new album Tim Minchin Time Machine, which will be out July 25th 2025.

‘Ruby’ draws from a real-life story of a mother-daughter bond, complex, bruised, and ultimately full of love. You can listen/download the song here and you can watch the official music video here with the lyrics in the description and below.

Tim: “Tim Minchin Time Machine: Eleven tracks, all written in my 20s, re-imagined and – finally! – properly recorded and produced. Some songs you will know (including the first ever studio version of RocknRoll Nerd, which utterly bangs), and some songs you may not. It’s not a comedy record (though there’s plenty of joy and musical foolery), nor is it a chin-stroker (but there is plenty of loveliness). I’ll be dropping singles between now and then. Stay tuned, monkeys.”

You can pre-order Tim Minchin Time Machine here.
