Chain Reaction is a BBC Radio 4 chat show with a difference: There’s no regular host. Instead, each week the interviewee selects someone that they would like to interview the next week. So Tim will be on two shows being interviewed and then interviewing.

First, master of mentalism, illusionist Derren Brown, will use the mind bending technique of asking some questions to interview Tim. They discuss critical thinking, beliefs, some of the things magic and comedy have in common and things Tim…

Repeated on Saturday 25th August at 12:30 BBC Radio 4 then on BBC Radio 4 Extra on 27th August at 23:00 and 28th August at 09:00 and 02:00.

If you somehow manage to miss them on all those occasions or want to pick your moment with Tim and friends then there’s always the BBC iPlayer, where they will be up for 7 days after the initial broadcast.

Simply cannot wait until Friday? Then, for a short taster of the first interview, digitally transport yourself to the appropriate player by clicking here.

You’re being offered the chance to be in the audience for the Season Finale shoot of Californication! Tim’s been filming in LA for the last few months for his major recurring role in the sixth season of Showtime’s hit US TV comedy drama, as we announced here.

If you can be at the Greek Theatre, Los Angeles this Thursday 2nd August 2012, at 5pm then first you’ll be treated to a solo performance by Tim, lasting about 45 minutes. Then he’ll go off while things are set up, to touch up his make up, re-coif that mane of his and probably squeeze into something sexy and less comfortable, before bounding back on stage to perform as his character Atticus Fetch! Excited yet?

As the audience will be being filmed for the show, you’ll be expected to stay for the filming and if you could please avoid logos, graphics and neon colours on your clothing, that would be really helpful. Dig out your wildest, most outrageous rock gear and dress to impress Atticus and each other: leather; metal; belts; boots; denims; even glitter… just go for it!

There’ll also be comedy from Shane Mauss and special guest appearances by Steve Jones, founding member of the Sex Pistols and Marylyn Manson.

Doors open at 5pm, taping begins at 6:30pm

To attend, visit Ticketmaster to print out your FREE ticket for this event.

Hurry though as seats are very limited.

UPDATE: To answer a question in the comments below.
Age restriction: You need to be over 16.

Tim will be on The Culture Show tomorrow, 27th June, 2012, on BBC2 at 10pm.

Miranda Sawyer chatted to Tim, initially in a VW Camper, (yes really) on the way to the Eden Project on Saturday and then backstage while he put his make-up on ready to wow the Eden Session crowds, divinely in a deluge.

They talked about Matilda the Musical, playing Judas in Jesus Christ Superstar and his role of “coked-up rockstar” Atticus Fetch in the sixth season of Californication – but we’ll have to see what survived the edit! Hopefully they’ll be showing the first movement of ‘Confessions’ and a clip from Matilda the Musical too.

There are four chances to catch the programme, across the diferent regions and even in HD if you really want to see Tim’s touseled locks, pixie highly pixelated features and those piercing baby blues über clearly. Details here.

You also have the option to iPlayer it. It will be available shortly after it airs.

UPDATED to add the direct iPlayer link. Tim’s bit starts at 15:10.

If you follow Tim on Twitter, you may remember this that he posted this after seeing Harry Oakwood (Millionaire) performing live: “If you have a chance to see @HarryOakwood play, take it. That is my directive for the day.

Well, if you’re heading to Tim’s Somerset House gig, now’s your chance to take his advice as the five-piece folk band have been personally requested to open the show! Here’s a bit more about them:

The Millionaire, Harry Oakwood, had a dream. He would build a band. A band of brothers who would serve him and act under his name. Harry Oakwood (Millionaire) are that band.

Not much is known about Harry. When probed on the subject the band reply in unison, “We are not at liberty to say”. “Just wait till you see his dog though!” adds the one holding a drumstick in his hand. They are more forthcoming about their influences though, citing The Band (first & foremost) along with Patrick Watson, Lowell George and Elliot Smith as inspiration.

What we do know is that Harry had a brief. All sing, check. All write, check. Great songs, check. Soaring harmonies, check. Barnstorming live shows, check. The criteria have been met.

Be sure to turn up early so that you can witness these guys in all their glory!

Belton House, Grantham

Ever wondered about what Tim’s toing and froing to America this summer is doing to the ozone layer? Well there’s some redemption as the Belton House gig tomorrow (to which you can till get tickets) is going to be very close to being carbon neutral!

The event will be powered by two generators running on 100% recycled vegetable oil. The oil is collected from the catering industry across the UK and then professionally filtered by a company based in Norfolk. Every aspect of the event, from the stage, the big screen, lighting, sound etc through to the food and bar providers will all be run off of these generators, as indeed will all the backstage elements including Tim’s dressing room.

The generators were brought in the week before the event and provide all the power while the event is being put together, so the only diesel used is by the four lorries bringing in the stage, the big screen, the marquees and the toilets.

Other eco steps taken are:

  • All event wristbands for staff, contractors, artists etc. are silicone based meaning they can be reused all week rather than a fresh band given each day.
  • All the waste from the event, including that produced by the public, is collected in two skips back stage after which it is taken to a recycling sorting plant.
  • Anything which can be recycled is separated out, while food waste goes to bio-fuel generator plants and anything else that can’t be recycled goes to high efficiency incinerators which produce electricity from the waste they burn.
  • So nothing goes into land-fill and even the gases produced by the incinerators is captured and filtered so nothing harmful goes into the air.

Somerset House, London

Now, we mentioned that there’d be a small, exclusive ticket release for this show, and true to our word, it has arrived! Tickets are very limited and will be restricted to two per customer. Given how quickly the main allocation sold out, we don’t anticipate these staying around for long, so grab yours here!
